I travel through the forest looking for fallen trees. The trees I harvest are primarily, Maple, Black Cherry, Birch and Beech. I spend time with the trees getting a feel for them and seeing what speaks to me, intuitively. I then use a chain saw to cut the tree into pieces which are then loaded one by one on an ATV for extraction and transported to my studio. The pieces are allowed to dry and crack. I use a variety of hand and power tools in the process. A finished piece of wood furniture usually takes years including drying.
